The Rancho Mirage Library and Observatory
The Rancho Mirage Library and Observatory is a great family-friendly activity in the Coachella Valley. This educational facility is meant to help kids and adults alike get a glimpse into astronomy and the dark skies above. You can go on a tour of the observatory and look through the telescope to see up to 50 million light-years away.
There are tours Tuesday through Saturday at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and events take place on a regular basis. Stargazing events are outdoors in the evenings and provide the opportunity to take a “tour of the night’s sky.” There are also family-specific stargazing events that are slightly shorter and earlier in the evening.
